What’s New as of November 17, 2008
  • We want to provide AUMS with 25-30 baskets of turkey and trimmings for families in inner city Albany. Please be generous in assisting these families. We'll be collecting donations from now until Nov. 23. We'll need 30 turkeys (we'll accept frozen turkeys or money/store certificates); 30 large or 60 small packages of stuffing mix, cans of sweet potatoes/yams, boxes of instant mashed potatoes, packages of muffin mix; 30 boxes/packages of cake mix (and frosting), brownie or cookie mix or packaged, prepared desserts; 30 cans of cranberry sauce; 60 jars/cans of gravy or packages of gravy mix ; and 60 cans of green beans or peas, corn, and fruit.
  • Mission Ministry Team has an urgent need for six cribs. Mission Movers also need metal bed frames (queen, full/double, and single/twin), single/twin sheets, and single/twin mattresses and box springs. If you wish to donate, please contact Karen Pass at 767-2809.
  • Come to the Harvest Dinner this Sunday, Nov. 23 in Fellowship Hall, immediately following the 9:30 a.m. worship service. This annual dinner is offered free of charge by a group of people from our congregation as an expression of thanks for the bountiful gifts bestowed on us as a church community. Please join us for a wonderful meal - and an enjoyable time of sharing. Please bring a dessert to share and a contribution for AUMS Thanksgiving baskets (please see article above for further details). If you'd prefer not to make a dessert, bring several items (or money) for AUMS baskets. Either way, think AUMS! And please be generous!
  • Also this Sunday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. there will be an ecumenical Thanksgiving service at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, with worship to be led by area ministers. The service will feature voices of local church choirs - including First United Methodist. A freewill offering will be taken to help the needy in our community.
  • “Making — Wisdom’s Path,” Rev. Janice Palm's sermon on Nov. 16, is available on-line here.
  • Join Rev. Janice Palm for a new program for both men and women interested in exploring God. The program will run for eight weeks beginning Nov. 10 (and 12), with a choice of two gatherings: one session each week on Monday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m., and one session each week on Wednesday mornings, 10-11:30 a.m. Join Pastor Palm in the library for conversation, song and prayer. For more information, email seniorpastor@delmarmethodist.org or call 439-9976 ext. 223.

Our November 19 newsletter may be downloaded here. An archive of sermons, our Telescope newsletter and our Milestone publications is available here. If you’d be interested in receiving e-mails to notify you whenever a new Telescope is on-line, drop a note to the Church Office.
